Community Health Workers (CHWs) are essential members of health and social-care systems, working tirelessly at the heart of communities to promote health and well-being. Their role is dynamic and multifaceted, requiring them to be action-oriented and adaptable to community needs. With fluid roles and responsibilities, CHWs often find themselves handling a wide range of tasks including conducting needs assessments, addressing social determinants of health, and providing education on disease prevention. To ensure their effectiveness and impact, supervision and training are crucial for CHWs. One effective way to support CHW development is through Registered Apprenticeship (RA). RA provides opportunities for individuals to gain hands-on experience with mentorship and guidance from seasoned professionals. CHWs can enhance their skills, expand their knowledge, improve their ability to address the diverse health needs of their community, and deepen their understanding of systems and resources. By engaging in RA, CHWs can sharpen their skills, build confidence in their abilities, and ultimately enhance the quality of care they provide to the communities they serve. RA can play a vital role in the growth and successes of CHWs, empowering them to make a meaningful difference in the health and well-being of their communities.
