| Who We Are |
|
United Way of Wisconsin (UWWi) is the statewide organization that provides support services to local and independent United Ways in Wisconsin, so they have capacity to individually and collectively build stronger communities. Our team recognizes the four pillars of our work as the foundation for a good quality of life and strong community – Healthy Community, Youth Opportunity, Financial Security, and Community Resiliency. Our Mission United Way of Wisconsin is dedicated to supporting and enriching a strong statewide United Way network that maximizes the capacity of local United Ways to address human needs, improve lives and create lasting positive change across Wisconsin. Our Vision United Way of Wisconsin will leverage the power of the network to deepen local, regional and statewide relationships that generate more resources to fight for the health, education, and financial stability of all people in all communities. Our Values United Way celebrates diversity and strives for the intentional inclusion of everyone in our community. We envision an inclusive state where all individuals can meet their basic needs and have equal opportunity for stability in their health, education, financial well-being and community connection. We work with public and private partners to co-create solutions that ensure everyone has the resources, support, opportunities and networks they need to thrive. We believe all people should have an opportunity to make a positive impact in their community. We seek to engage partners in this work without regard to race, religion, national origin or ancestry, ethnicity, age, gender, gender identity & expression, disability, sexual orientation, veteran-status, familial status, or socio-economic status. United Way mobilizes communities to action so all can thrive. That work calls us to confront the challenges and disparities in our communities and state. In each pillar of our work, Wisconsin residents
face disparities along racial and ethnic lines. Racism is a public health crisis, rooted in institutional and systemic inequity and discrimination. The stark reality of racial disparities, racism and inequity throughout Wisconsin
calls us to recognize, understand and act against racial and ethnic discrimination, racism and racial inequity.
Cy Pres Awards Cy Pres is a doctrine that permits a court to award any unallocated, unclaimed, or undeliverable funds from a class action settlement or judgment to a non-profit organization. As a nonprofit organization, United Way of Wisconsin is eligible to receive Cy Pres funding. If selected for a Cy Pres Award, the United Way of Wisconsin can provide additional support to our communities. Through our work, we can bridge people, local United Ways, and resources so individuals, families and communities can thrive in Wisconsin. Due to this work, we have a unique position as a nexus to most types of class action cases. To help support our mission through Cy Pres, please add the United Way of Wisconsin to your firm’s list of eligible Cy Pres recipients. Please contact Charlene Mouille, President and CEO, if you have any questions about the United Way of Wisconsin’s work or the Cy Pres process.
